KATY McNICOLL LIMBERING UP IN FLORIDA FOR

CRACK AT FUTURES AND LET Q SCHOOLS

North of Scotland women's amateur champion Katy McNicoll is set to follow brother Keir into the professional ranks.
The 21-year-old is meantime back enjoying the guaranteed good golfing weather in Florida where she spent four years as a student at Lynn University , Boca Raton – as did Keir – with a view to becoming a tour pro on either side of the Atlantic .
"I came back to Florida in September to work with Lynn University golf coach Bill Davis for the winter. I am assisting him on a part-time basis so that I can play and practise with the college women's team while I am over here," said Katy in an E-mail.
"I have joined the Florida Suncoast Series Tour for women pros and amateurs so that I can keep playing competitively and stay sharp."
She has entered the US Futures Tour qualifying school in the first week of November but she is giving herself as many options as possible.
"I am also going to the Ladies European Tour Q School in early December. Ideally I would like to play in Europe but having spent the last four years in America it made sense for me to take advantage of the coaching and playing opportunities I have out here as well."
Katy and Keir's father Dave McNicoll played professional football for Dunfermline Athletic until a knee injury ended his career. He owns and runs the Carnoustie Golf Shop.
