Top-10 finish for Hannah Lovelock

in Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

Hannah Lovelock, a sophomore (second-year) student at Missouri University, achieved a creditable top-10 finish in a field of 90 for the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club, Boulder City in the state of Nevada this week.
Hannah, pictured, who hails from Surrey, finished joint ninth after a great opening round of three-under-par 69 over a 6,233yd course. She couldn't quite maintain that standard of performance but subsequent scores of 75 and 77 gave her a 54-hole final total of 221 - 12 shots behind the two-shot winner, Sherlyn Popelka (Arizona) who scored 69, 69 and 71 for seven-under 209.
Hannah's Missouri team-mate Nicola Race, from Essex, is still searching for the form that saw her head-hunted from a smaller US university for the start of the 2009-2010 college golf season. . She finished joint 63rd on 234, made up of scores of 75, 82 and 77.
England international Ellis Keenan from Sunningdale, a freshman student at the Universtiy of Nevada Las Vegas, also disappointed. She started well enough with a one-over-73 but tagged a pair of 82s on to that for a total of 237 which saw her finished joint 78th.

Arizona pulled off a double by winning both the individual and team titles. Their 878 total won the team race by five shots from Florida with Louisville (886) third.
