Sinead O'Sullivan comes back from a bout of flu to tie

for second place in Kiawah Island tournament

Ireland's Sinead O'Sullivan shook off the bout of flu which forced her to retire after two rounds in her previous event to finish joint second in the Palmetto Women's Intercollegiate tournament over the Kiawah Island Oak Point course, South Carolina.

Sinead, from Galway, a student at East Tennessee State University, had rounds of 74, 69 and 74 for a one-over-par total of 217 over the 5,916yd course. She tied with Mallory Fraiche (Arkansas-Little Rock) (72-74-71), four shots behind the winner, Jessie Hollandsworth (Maryland) with 69, 68 and 76.

Georgia State University freshman student Ellie Robinson from Middlesbourgh had rounds of 77, 77 and 79 for a total of 233 and a share of 55th place in the field of 93 players.

Sinead's effort helped East Tennessee State win the team event by 16 shots from Kansas in a field of 18 teams.

Top 20 finishes by Laura and Carley

Two English students, Laura Cutler from Essex and Carley Warrington from Bradwell, achieved top-20 finishes in other US college tournaments.

Laura, a junior student at Jacksonville State University, Alabama, finished joint 13th in a field of 57 for the Troy University women's invitational at Troy Country Club, Alabama. Over a par-72 course of 6,005yd, Laura scored 74 and 80 for 154 - nine shots behind the winner, Haley Lawrence who had rounds of 71 and 74 over her home course.

Carley Warrington finished joint 18th in a field of 93 at the Flagler Fall Slam at the World Golf Village, St Augustine, Florida.

Over a course of 6,007yd (par 72), Carley, a final-year student at Belmont Abbey College, had rounds of 75 and 81 for 156 - 11 shots behind the winner by three strokes, Anna Riss (Saint Leo) with 71 and 74 for 145.

Carley's Belmont Abbey team-mate, freshman Melissa Siviter from the West Midlands finished tied 40th on 163 with rounds of 78 and 85.

Belmont Abbey (626) finished fourth of the 19 teams behind winners Saint Leo (617).

Hannah Burke won't remember The Alamo!

International-class Hannah Burke from Herts, a student at Baylor University, Texas, would have been disappointed with her joint 28th place finish in one-round The Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch, San Antonio, Texas.

Over a par-72, 6362yd course, Hannah returned a five-over-par 77.

Clara Leathers and Stephanie Gough, both from Aylesbury and both students at Middle Tennessee State, finished joint 48th and joint 51st in the same event which had a field of 60 players. Clara had an 80 and Stephanie an 81.
