Jordan McColl from Dundee ties for third
place with a 71 over the longest course (7,478yd) he's ever played
Dundee's Jordan McColl, a freshman student at New Mexico Junior College, tied for third place in a field of 64 players at the Coca Cola Classic 18-hole college tournament at Twin Rivers Golf Club, Waco in Texas this past week. Jordan had a round of one-under-par 71, which was a very good effort over the longest golf course (7,478yd) he has ever played.
McColl finished four strokes behind the winner Lucas Morande (Hannibal-LaGrange) and two shots behind runner-up Jordan Russell (Texas A&M).
New Mexico JC (297) finished runners-up to McLennan Community College (291) in a team event contested by six college squads.
PETER LATIMER BACK IN USA - AND PLAYING WELL
Peter Latimer from Markinch, beaten by Paul O'Hara in the quarter-finals of the Allied Surveyors Scottish men's amateur championship at Royal Troon this past summer, is back at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina - and picking up where he left off last college golf season.
Peter tied for fourth place in the Tom & Bettie O'Briant Memorial college tournament at The Cardinal Golf & Country Club near Greensboro. He shot 73 and 76 for a total of 149 over the longish course - 7,002yd - with a stiff par of 70.
Basildon-born Alex Irvin (Berry College, Georgia) finished joint 62nd in the field of 90 players with scores of 88 and 79 for 167.
Joint winners on 146 - only three shots ahead of Latimer - were Methodist University team-mates Josh Speight and Trey Howell, who both scored 73 in each round.
GLASGOW'S GRAEME MOLLOY 36th AT TPC AT DEERE RUN
Graeme Molloy from Glasgow, a senior year student at Grand View University, Des Moines, Iowa, finished joint 36th in a field of 90 players at the NAIA Preview Invitational college tournament at TPC at Deere Run, Silvis in Illinois.
Graeme had rounds of 76 and 79 for a total of 155 over the par-71, 6,625yd course.
Grand View team-mate Yousaf Khan from London tied for 61st place on 160 with rounds of 82 and 78.
Winner was Austin Conroy (Indiana Wesleyan) with a pair of 71s for 142.
