Gemma Dryburgh, work with IMG coaches paying off ABERDEEN GIRL FINISHES JOINT THIRD IN NORTH CAROLINA Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh, a 16-year-old resident student at the IMG David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida, finished joint third in the latest Future Collegians World Tour girls' tournament at Bermuda Run Country Club, North Carolina at the weekend. On a course playing very long after five inches of rain immediately before the event, Gemma had scores of 79 and 77 for 156 - five shots behind the American winner Juliet Vongphoumy who scored 74 and 77. Gemma has finished in the top 10 in all three FCWT events so far this 2009-2010 season. Gemma's father, Aberdeen businessman John Dryburgh, writes: "The course, which was beautiful in the autumn colours, is situated near Winston Salem in North Carolina.It is a real test of golf with extreme sloped greens and some very tight holes.It was made trickier by the five inches of rain before the tournament. "The work Gemma has put in with the coaches at IMG is really paying off as her ball striking has improved significantly. She is really hitting the ball well. Unfortunately she still hasn’t mastered the art of putting on extreme sloped greens. Hopefully,that will come with hard work. "She is now placed third after three events in the FCWT East standings,behind Isobell Lendl and Halley Leadbetter and fifth US wide, out of over 100 girls."
