Anna Carling joint sixth - her best yet

Cardiff's Anna Carling achieved her highest finish yet in this her freshman year at Arkansas State University, Jonesboro in Arkansas.

Playing in the University of Alabama-Birmingham Beach Bash at The Peninsula, Gulf Shores, Alabama, Vale of Glamorgan GC member Anna, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency at a Hacienda del Alamo Winter Festival, finished joint sixth with scores of 76 and 73 for a seven-over-par total of 149 over the par-72, 6,100yd course.

It was Anna's third top-25 finish in all since she left Wales for the sunny shores of the United States.

Carolyn Cochran of the host university was the winner with scores of 72 and 70 for 142. She won by five strokes, so Anna Carling was only two shots behind those who tied for third place.

Memphis University (595) won the team title ahead of Samford University (605) and (tied third) Arkansas State and ULM on 606.
