Lancashire lass Amelia finishes fourth in Arizona
Amelia Taylor, a junior member of St Anne’s Old Links Golf Club, finished fourth in the US Kids Desert Shootout Age 14 category at Phoenix, Arizona from December 28 to 30.
After lying second after two rounds, Amelia slipped back to finish fourth after the third round, 11 shots back from the winner Heather Nail from Alabama.
Four shots behind Heather in joint second place were Alexis Sedeghy from Oklahoma and Abigail McGrew from California.
The course chosen for Amelia’s age group at the Wigwam Golf Resort was the Gold Course (5762yd, par 72) and nicknamed the ‘Monster,’ containing 60 bunkers and water coming into play on 12 holes.
Annika Sorenstam represented this golf club and lists the Gold Course as one of the most favourite courses she has ever played.
After finishing runner-up on the Red Course last year, Amelia enjoyed the experience of the more testing Gold Course and was pleased with a fourth place finish.
+Amelia Taylor is competing again in next month's 3rd Hacienda del Alamo February Festival (13th to 20th). Entry forms available by clicking on the relevant words at the top of the left hand column on this website.
