Second-round leader Hannah Burke
finishes joint 2nd in Puerto Rico
Hannah Burke from Hertfordshire, in her final year as a student at Baylor University, Texas, lost her one-shot lead over the final round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic college tournament at the Trump International Golf Club, Coco Beach Resort in San Juan.
Hannah, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, led after two opening rounds of three-under-par 69 over the 6,219yd course but slipped back with a third and last-round 74 for a total of 212.
She was overtaken by Sweden's European individual champion Caroline Hedwall, a sophomore student at Oklahoma State. Caroline had rounds of 74, 64 and 70 for a seven-under-par total of 209.
Caroline, who will be 21 on May 13, had an undefeated record for the Continent of Europe in last summer's Vagliano Trophy victory over Great Britain & Ireland at Hamburg. She lost to Anna Nordqvist (Sweden) in the final of the Ladies' British open amateur championship at North Berwick in 2008.
Hannah finished joint second in a field of 86 players, being joined on the 212 mark by Spain's Marta Silva (Georgia) with rounds of 70 69 and 73.
Alabama University did not have an individual concerned in the top three finish but they won the team title by 11 shots with a total of 872. Purdue (883) were second and Oklahoma State (886) third. Baylor (907) finished joint sixth in a field of 16 teams.
