Katie Mundy wins at Austin,

Texas after sub-par 70

English women's mid-amateur champion Katie Mundy, after finishing second in consecutive American college tournaments, succeeded in winning the St Edwards Invitational at Grey Rock Golf Club, Austin in Texas this week.
A member at Dunwood Golf Club near Romsey, Hampshire and a student at Western Texas College at Snyder, Texas, Katie, picture by courtesy of Leaderboard Photography, came from behind with a splendid second round of one-under-par 70 over the 6,018yd for a 36-hole total of 148.
She won by one shot from Carla Cooper (Tarleton State) who shot 75 and 74.
Western Texas College team-mate Hollie Weatherburn, the Cumbrian women's county champion, had scores of 77 and 80 and tied for third place with two other players in a field of 88.
Despite Katie and Hollie's good efforts, Western Texas did not win the team title. That went to Tarleton State who had 16 shots to spare over runners-up Western Texas in a field of 17 teams.

Andrea Downer joint second in Kentucky
Andrea Downer (Murray State University), a senior student from Bramley, Surrey, finished joint second in a field of 34 players for the New Wave Communications Classic at Miller Golf Club at the city of Murray in Kentucky.
Andrea scored 76 and 80 for 156 to finish one shot behind the winner, Chelsea Harris (Austin Peay State), who had rounds of 76 and 79.
Murray State (638) did win the team title ahead of Austin Peay State (654) in a field of five teams.

Abbey Gittings sixth in Lady Moc Classic
Two English students, Abbey Gittings from Walmley and Lizzi Over from Lincolnshire, finished in the top 10 of a field of 70 players for the Lady Moc Classic at The Club at Eaglebrooke, Lakeland in Florida.
Abbey, a freshman student at Nova Southeastern and the Warwickshire ladies county champion for the past two years, finished sixth.
Over a par-72 course of 6,255yd, she had rounds of 79, 76 and 78 for a total of 233.
Lizzi Over, a sophomore student at Barry University, Miami in Florida, came joint seventh with scores of 82, 75 and 78 fro 235.
Sandra Changjuha (Nova Southeastern) was the runaway winner by nine strokes with scores of 72, 71 and 76 for 219.
Another Nova Southeastern student, junior Nicole Whitemore from Milton Keynes, tied for 29th place in a field of 70 with a total of 248, made up of scores of 76, 94 and 78. But for that second round, Nicole would have certainly made the top 20, maybe even the leading 10.
Nova Southeastern (916) won the team title by 17 shots from Rollins College with Florida State (940) third of 13 teams. Barry University came fourth with a total of 955


Lauren Blease joint fifth in Lady Jaguar Invitational
Lauren Blease, a sophomore student at Florida International University, finished joint fifth in a field of 85 players at the Lady Jaguar Invitational at Azalea City Golf Club, Mobile in Alabama.
Lauren, from Kingston, Surrey, had rounds of 79, 75 and 75 for 229 - seven shots behind Lauren Cate (Stetson University) (73-75-74) who beat Marissa Steen (Memphis) (75-73-74) in a play-off after they had tied on 222 over the par-72, 6,071yd course.
Alex Bantham (Stetson), a junior student from Birmingham, scored 80, 79 and 81 for 240 and a share of 30th place.
Laura Cutler (Jacksonville State), a junior student from Essex, finished joint 34th on 242 with scores of 76, 85 and 81.

Lizi Sweetnam 12th at Eagle's Bluff in Texas
Lizi Sweetnam (Seminole Community College, Okalahoma) finished 12th of 28 in the tJC Spring Intercolleagiate tournament at Eagle's Bluff Golf Club, Bullard in Texas.
Lizi returned a pair of 91s for a total of 182 over a par-71 course of 5,836yd.
Jack Marshall (Tyler Junior College) won by 13 shots with scores of 76 and 77 for 153.
Tyler JC also won the team event. Seminole CC finished last of five teams.

Ellie Robinson joint 15th at Sorrento, Florida
Ellie Robinson (Georgia State), a freshman student from Middlesborough, came joint 15th in a field of 90 players at the UCF Challenge tournament at Red Tail Golf Club, Sorrento in Florida.
Ellie, a quarter-finalist in last year's British women's open amateur championship at Harlech, had rounds of 71, 79 and 75 for 225.
Hannah Burke (Baylor), a senior student from Hertfordshire), finished joint 38th on 252 with scores of 77, 78 and 77.
Sammy Vass (Central Florida) from Tain in the North of Scotland had scores of 84, 80 and 81 for a total of 245 and a share of 76th place.
Julie Boland (Texas A&M) won the individual title by five strokes with scores of 65, 75 and 70 for 210.
Texas A&M (893) also won the team event ahead of Georgia State (895), Coastal Carolina (904), College of Charleston (905), Baylor (907) and Furman and Central Florida (both 913). 17 Teams took part.
