Anna Carling scores first college win in America

Anna Carling from Cardiff, coming up to the end of her first year as a student at Arkansas State University, has scored her first tournament win on the US women's college circuit.
The Vale of Glamorgan player had rounds of 74, 72 and 76 for a total of 222 over a par-72, 5,817yd course to win the individual title in the Lady Colonel Classic at Kentucky on Monday by one shot.
It was her fifth top 10 finish in her last six competitions.
Andrea Downer (Murray State University) from Surrey finished joint seventh on 227 with scores of 76, 76 and 75.
Arkansas State (913) finished third in the team event behind Morehead State (905) and Memphis (907). Murray State (924) came fifth in a field of 17 teams.
Carling claimed the first tournament championship of her young career and became the third Carling, who entered the final round tied for first place, turned in her highest score of the tournament, a 76, but still finished with a combined 222 to top Morehead State's Marisa Kamelgarn by one stroke.
Carling shot an opening-round 74 and carded a 72, her lowest score of the season, during the second round that ended Saturday's play.
"I'm extremely proud of Anna," said ASU head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "She has been close for several events now, and it's good to see her seal the deal."
