COLD, WET AND WINDY AT ST ANDREWS

Four share lead with a round to go in St Rule Trophy
FROM COLIN FARQUHARSON AT ST ANDREWS
The stage is set for a thrilling last round over the Old Course, St Andrews in the final rond of the 54-hole St Rule Trophy
Four players share the lead on four-under-par 147 – overnight leader and Curtis Cup selection Pamela Pretswell (Bothwell Castle), Welsh champion Tara Davies (Holyhead), Laura Murray (Alford) and Australia’s Stacey Keating.
Glasgow University student Pretswell, leader by one with a first-round, five-under-par 70 over the New Course, slipped out of the pole position with an outward half of 42 over the Old Course in miserable morning conditions of rain, wind and cold.
But the Hamilton player came back in 35 – three under par – to salvage a 77 – one over the ladies’ par for the Old Course – to total 147 for 36 holes.
Laura Murray, beaten semi-finalist in the recent Scottish women’s amateur championship at Craigielaw, had an outward half of 35 on her way to second-round 74 for 147.
Jane Turner (Craigielaw) had the best morning outward half of 34 in the conditions which were all against low scoring. Jane posted a 73 for 154.
