HUNGARY TRIP FOR CARNOUSTIE KIDS

AILSA SUMMERS AND JESSICA MEEK

The Scottish Ladies Golfing Association has rewarded Ailsa Summers and Jessica Meek, the two 16-year-old Carnoustie Ladies junior clubmates, for an outstanding performance in battling their way past their elders to feature in the final of the Clark Rosebowl – the No 2 match-play competition at the Scottish championship at Craigielaw last week.
They have been chosen as Scotland’s girl representatives in the European Junior Masters, to be played at Royal Balaton Golf Club, Hungary, from July 22 to 24.
Ailsa, the Angus women’s and girls’ county champion, beat Jessica by 4 and 3 winner to win the Clark Rosebowl with some very good golf – one under par for the holes played with a bag of four birdies.
Ailsa is following in the footsteps of her mother who has been Angus women’s champion on several occasions and reached the final of the British girls championship when it was played at Edzell GC in the 1980s.
