Louise Kenney setting pace in

defence of SLGA Merit title
Pitreavie’s Louise Kenney may have lost in the final of the Scottish women’s amateur championship for the second year in a row but nobody is heading her in the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association’s Order of Merit.
The 27-year-old Dunfermline nursery school teacher won the Order of Merit title last year and she is again shaping as the player they all have to catch.
Joint third place in the Helen Holm Scottish open stroke-play championship beat runner-up in the Scottish championship have helped her quickly crash the 2000pt barrier.
With a running total of 2060pt, Louise, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency in Saturday's Scottish championship final at Craigielaw, has a big lead from the second-placed Jane Turner (Craigielaw), a student at Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University, on 1130 with Alford’s Laura Murreay currently third on 1130.
The only other player to pass the 1000pt mark is 17-year-old Rachael Watton (Mortonhall) with 1020pt to her credit. Rachael, a tip for the top in the not too distant future, reached the quarter-finals of the “Scottish” at Craigielaw last week before losing by only one hole to the champion-to-be Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar) who had to produce three-under-par figures to see off the youngster's challenge.
The next counting event is the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews this weekend (May 29-30)
Top 20 in the SLGA Order of Merit are:
2060 Louise Kenney (Pitreavie).
1335 Jane Turner (Craigielaw).
1130 Laura Murray (Alford).
1020 Rachael Watton (Mortonhall).
