Rachel Polson, a five-handicap member of Peterculter Golf Club, shot a gross 76 (three over par) at Kemnay Golf Club today to win the top scratch prize in the Aberdeenshire girls' medal in a cold breeze and sometimes wet conditions.
Rachel, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, birdied the second and the long seventh on her way to matching the par of 37 for the outward half. Her bogeys before the turn were the shot sixth and the long eighth.
Coming home Rachel dropped shots at three more par-3s - the 10th, the 14th and 18th.
Second best scratch score was a 79 by Claire Prouse (Hazlehead) and third was professional's daughter, Kristina Vannet (Peterculter) with an 80.
Best net return in a field reduced to 16 players by illness and injury was a 67 by Olivia Borwick (McDonald Ellon) off a handicap of 16.
