Sally Watson finished ahead of two US Curtis Cup selections

The United States team invariably start favourites to win a Curtis Cup match, particularly on home turf as next month's fixture at Essex County Club, Massachusetts will be.
But Elie & Earlsferry Ladies Golf Club member Sally Watson, one of only two Scots in the GB&I line-up compared with four for the 2008 match over the Old Course, St Andrews, will be able to impress on her 2010 team-mates that the Americans are by no means unbeatable.
As recently as last week's NCAA Division 1 Women's West Regional Championship at Stanford University, where the 18-year-old Scot is coming up to the end of her freshman year, Sally finished ahead of two members of the US line-up for Essex County Club.
Sally tied for seventh place on 219 with scores of 75, 71 and 73.
American team selections Stephanie Kono and Tiffany Lua, both students at UCLA (University of California-Los Angeles) finsihed joint 10th and joint 20th respectively.
Stephanie had scores of 72, 73 and 75 for 220 while Tiffany scored 75, 73 and 75 for 223.
