TOP SEED MARGARET HAS
-
TOUGH OPENING TIE

Top seed Margaret Tough (Falkirk) was taken to the final green by the last of the 16 match-play qualifiers, Mhairi Hall (Bathgate), when the Stirling & Clackmannan women's county golf championship continued at Falkirk Golf Club today.
Margaret, pictured, a hard-earned one up on the 18th tee, won the last hole to double her winning margin. Closest first-round tie saw the No 13 qualifier Lesley Gibb (West Lothian) oust the No 4 seed, Vicki Stevenson (Stirling) at the 20th.
Vikki did fight back to square the contest by winning the 17th and 18th holes but went out at the second extra hole.
Defending champion Jill Harrison (Linlithgow), the No 3 seed, was a 3 and 2 winner over Elizabeth Goodwin (Glenbervie).
The No 2 seed, Louise MacGregor (Falkirk), who had her 21st birthday last Thursday, had the biggest win of the day, by 8 and 6 over Lesley Percy (Braehead) and now plays 16-year-old Alison Goodwin (Glenbervie), the No 7 seed, in Monday evening's quarter-finals.
