US college season over for Stewart and Ferrier

The 2009-2010 United States college golf season is over for past Scottish boys' match-play champions, Michael Stewart from Troon and Baberton's Paul Ferrier.
Their universities, East Tennessee State in Stewart's case and Ferrier's Charlotte, did not figure among the top five teams who qualified from the NCAA East Regional tournament at the Yale course, New Haven in Connecticut and only Cornwall-born Rhys Enoch will go forward as the individual tournament joint winner to the NCAA Men's Championships at Ooltewah on June 1.
Enoch had rounds of 65, 68 and 70 for a total of 203 over the par-70, 6749yd course.
That was the same 54-hole score as T J Howe (Penn State) (69-68-66). They did not play-off, even for the bragging rights.
Stewart scored 69, 73 and 66 for a share of eighth place on 208 in a field of 75 players.
Ferrier was joint 36th with scores of 69, 74 and 71 for 214. Also on that mark was East Tennessee State's Seamus Power from Ireland with scores of 73, 74 and 67.
The university teams who qualified for the NCAA Championships showdown were Texas and Kent State (both 835), UCLA (836), Penn State (837) and Virginia (843).
East Tennessee State (844) finished sixth in the 14-team line-up.
