Catherine (left) and Alison Goodwin with their trophies at Glenbervie.
The Goodwin girls, Alison and Catherine, daughters of Elizabeth, the junior secretary for Stirling and Clackmannan County Ladies Golf Association, made a little bit of history at Glenbervie Golf Club the other day. They won both club titles on the same day.
Alison, 16, retained the Ladies’club championship by beating Stirling and Clackmannan County Ladies’ captain Linda Allan by one hole in the final. It was a very close game with Linda pulling back from three down to square the match on the 17th.
Alison then hit a great drive and pitch at the last to a tricky pin position
Alison’s younger sister, 12 year old Catherine, won the Glenbervie club's Ladies’ Handicap Championship final, beating the defending champion, Barbara MacLeod, by one hole too. She won the last hole to win – the only time she had been ahead in the game.
