SCOTS LYING SECOND IN INTERNATIONAL TEAM EVENT

Roseanne Niven withdraws at

Ganton before 2nd Q round

It's the second day of the British women's open amateur championship at Ganton Golf Club on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors.
It's sunny again but not quite so warm for the second qualifying round - and the wind is stronger and cooler.


Roseanne Niven (Crieff), pictured right at Ganton on the first tee yesterday by Cal Carson Golf Agency, beaten semi-finalist in this championship at North Berwick in 2008 when she won the British women's open amateur stroke-play after play-off against Kylie Walker, withdrew from further play this morning before her scheduled tee time for the second qualifying round.


The University of California student had a score of 91 in the first qualifying round and had little or no chance of making the 64 qualifiers for the match-play stages.
The International Team competition, played in conjunction with the qualifying rounds, stands as follows (best two individual scores each day count for team total):
