Northamptonshire take lead at Midlands South County Week

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Northamptonshire have opened up a slender lead after the second day of the Midlands South County Match Week at Goring and Streatley, Berkshire.
This is one of two County Match Weeks which are currently taking place. The winners of each will join four other regional qualifiers at the national finals of the English Counties’ Championship, which is supported by Virgin Atlantic.
Northamptonshire claimed their second point of the week when they beat Berkshire 6-3. Just behind, on 1½ points, are Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire who met today and halved their match.
Oxfordshire have one point after beating Worcestershire and Herefordshire 6-3.
In the East region week at West Herts the hosts, Hertfordshire, defeated Bedfordshire 7-2 while Essex beat Suffolk 5½-3½. Hertfordshire and Essex both have two points but the hosts have a narrow advantage having won two more games so far.
In the day’s other match Norfolk beat Cambs and Hunts 6-3.
Three County Match Weeks have already taken place. Dorset will represent the South West at County Finals in September; Sussex will represent the South; and Lincolnshire will represent Midlands North. The North match week will be played at the end of June.
