Jodi Ewart still sharing lead and Gemma Webster gets a hole in one

NEWS RELEASE FROM THE US DURAMED FUTURES TOUR
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. Dark clouds hovered all day at the Ladies Titan Tire Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but the forecasted rain managed to hold off until the end as Jodi Ewart and Christine Song share a one-stroke lead. Ewart and Song are 6-under-par (138) following second-round play at the $110,000 tournament, held at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
Ewart, from North Yorkshire, England, came into today's round as co-leader and kept her momentum going despite carding two bogeys.
"I started off pretty similar to yesterday," said Ewart, who is making her professional debut. "My tee shots were a bit wild but hopefully I can get that sorted on the range tomorrow. I had 29 putts, and 28 yesterday, so I'm on point on that. If I can keep it steady, I'm in a good place."
California's Song felt her strong showing in last year's Ladies Titan Tire Challenge gave her the confidence to perform well. Song carded five birdies and two bogeys in her round.
"I like the course a lot," said Song, who is a current member of the LPGA Tour. "I feel like I can win in Iowa. My plan for tomorrow is easy, more birdies and no bogeys."
Finishing tied for third at 5-under-par (139) are Michaela Cavener of Ponca City, Okla., and Hannah Jun of San Diego, Calif. Jun bogeyed the first hole for the second day, but due to her strong finish on Friday, she knew she would be able to bounce back.
"I've been having a weird time with the first one," said Jun. "But I figured there are a lot of birdies out there. I'm happy where I'm at. I want to post a good score tomorrow."
With a score of 4-under-par (140), Lili Alvarez of Durango, Mexico, shares Jun's attitude going into Sunday's final round.
"My game plan for tomorrow is to do the same as I did today," said Alvarez, who is a cast member on the upcoming Golf Channel program, Big Break: Sandals Resort. "I'd like to see my name on the leaderboard, hopefully on top."
Seventy-two players made the 36-hole cut at 149 (+5).
Thirty players currently stand at even-par 144 or better after two rounds.

Gemma Webster Scores Hole-In-One
Second-year professional Gemma Webster, pictured,  of Glasgow scored her fifth hole-in-one during Saturday's second-round play at the Ladies Titan Tire Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The 2005 British Universities Stroke Play Champion used a 4-iron on the 189-yard par-three 16th hole to make the ace.
"No one could really see the ball for a while and we wondered if it went in," recalled Webster. "We wondered if it went in but know one really knew. So I walked up to the hole and there it was, a hole-in-one."
This was Webster's first hole-in-one as a professional. Watch the video of Webster talking about her hole-in-one at YouTube.com/ROAD2LPGA.
