WORLD UNIVERSITIES CHAMPIONSHIPS
James and Kelsey star for Great Britain teams in Spain
Stirling students James White and Kelsey MacDonald again led the Great Britain men’s and women’s teams with their third-round scores in the world universities team golf championships at Malaga, Spain today.
White’s 67 was matched only by one of the South Korea players and was eight shots better than achieved by team-mates Kevein Garwood, Nicky Maddison and Ian Winstanley, each of whom returned a 75.
Great Britain go into the last day of the men’s team event in joint ninth place on 677, 26 shots behind the leading South Koreans.
Scottish champion Kelsey MacDonald had her best score yet, a 74, which helped lift Great Britain to joint sixth place with a round to go in the women’s team event.
England’s Lucy Williams had a 75 and the third member of the GB women’s team, Robert Gordon University student Jane Turner (Craigielaw) had a 77. The best two scores count daily for each team.
France lead with 446 and Great Britain are 20 shots off the pace.
