Kelly warms up for British Open with Creamer and Kerr
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
British champion Kelly Tidy will warm-up for her debut appearance in the Ricoh Women’s British Open alongside some of the biggest names in the game.
Kelly, a member of the host club, Royal Birkdale, will play her first practice round with US Open champion Paula Creamer. She’ll follow-up with another round with American Cristie Kerr and Suzann Petterson, ranked third and fourth in the world, respectively.
“I’m really excited by that,” said Kelly. “I haven’t played with them before but I met them all last year when I played in the Junior Solheim Cup.
“My dad was saying they might want to ask me for a few tips about the course because I know it like the back of my hand!”
Kelly qualified for the Open when she won the British championship at Ganton last month. “My target is to make the cut and have a good go at the silver medal,” she said. “Anything else would be a bonus.”
The championship gets underway on Thursday.
