Krystle backing to ‘Green Initiative for Tomorrow’ programme.
Ahead of this year’s Major Championship, Richoh's Women's British Open, at Royal Birkdale, a number of leading Ladies European Tour players have pledged to do five things to reduce their carbon footprint, including drying clothes naturally and switching off lights.
“I am delighted to take part in the programme,” Cupar-based Krystle Caithness told 110sport.tv.
“We can all make simple changes to the way we live our lives that can have a big impact on the world in which we live.”
For every player that supports the initiative, Ricoh has committed to planting ten trees. That means that at least 310 trees will be planted on the shores of Lake Oursi in Burkina Faso to help rehabilitate the ecosystem and improve the living conditions of rural populations thanks to the players.
Ricoh hope to gain the support of the players, spectators and golf fans and collectively address the issues of global warming within the world of golf.
Simply by pledging to support the initiative, either on the official event website www.ricohwomensbritishopen.com/gift or in person at the Championship, visitors will be able to learn more about GIFT and the impact of everyday activities on their carbon footprint.
