Laura chalks up a score of Duff House Royal titles

FROM THE PRESS AND JOURNAL
By DAVE EDWARDS
Duff House Royal women's captain Laura McLardy has won the Banff club's women's championship for the 20th time. The 33-year-old, who lives and works in Aberdeen as a chartered tax adviser, first lifted the title at the age of 13 and, with one exception, she has retained the silverware every other year.
She said: "I didn't win the club championship in 1992. Jacqui Duncan, or Fraser as she was at the time, won that year but I have lifted the trophy every other year since I first won it as a junior playing the women's championship in1990.
"There are a few other players in the region who have achieved similar feats, such as Meg Sievewright at Keith, Rose Andereson at Huntly, Linda Smith at Buckpool and Turriff's Pat Shepherd, who is in the Guinness Book of Records for winning 30 club championships on the trot.
"I would like to win a few more. I am playing off a hanidcap of four and my game is coming back after I started the season slowly."
McLardy won this year's championship by seven shots from Louise Anderson. She said: "I represented Northern Counties for seven years and when I moved to Aberdeen in 2000, I started playing for the Aberdeenshire women's team., although I did not play this year.
"Duff House Royal has recovered well after the flooding. I have the honour of being women's captain in our centenary year and that is very special."
