Lucy, Nicki, Tara win Nations Cup in
Grand Prix des Landes in SW France
Lucy Williams, Nikki Foster and Tara Watters won the Nations Cup for England on a countback from England after the first two rounds of the Grand Prix des Landes at Hossegor Golf Club in southwest France.
Lucy, pictured left by Cal Carson Golf Agency, was the leader after 36 holes of the four-round event with scores of 72 and 68 but she had to come home after that to play in the Ricoh Women's British Open Final Qualifying at Hillside Golf Club, Lancashire on Monday.
The Grand Prix des Landes tournament website lists Lucy as "disqualified." This creates totally the wrong impression. The English Women's Golf Association sent her to France only to play in the first two rounds for the Nations Cup competition run in conjunction with the opening 36 holes. The organisers were well aware of this and accepted that she would not be playing in the third and fourth rounds.
The new leader is French player Agathe Stuzon with scores of 71, 72 and 69 for 212 - two shots ahead of Sweden's Linnea Johansson (74-71-69) and Frida Gustafsson (69-73-72)
England's Nikki Foster and Tara Watters are sharing eighth place on 221. They've both scored 72, 75 and 74.
