Loretto win National Foursomes Championships Grand Final
Loretto School, Musselburgh have been crowned HMC National Foursomes Champions for 2010.
Over 90 independent schools from around the UK took part in the competition during the year, playing in six regional groups. The winners of those groups and last year's national winner, Millfield and runner up, Epsom, made up the eight teams competing in the Grand Final at Craigielaw at the weekend.
In the final, the teams, each comprising six players, were split into two groups playing in a round-robin format with the winners of the groups playing for the title.
Loretto overcame Epsom 2-1 and RGS Guildford 3-0 on the first day and Truro 2-1 on the second day, before beating Millfield 2-1 in a very tense final, with two matches decided at the 18th. Each of the Loretto pairings recorded three wins out of their four matches.
