McKenna Trophy veterans' match at Portmarnock this week

The annual two-day match for the Mary McKenna Perpetual Trophy between a select representing the Scottish Veteran Ladies Golf Association and an Irish senior ladies team will be played at Portmarnock Golf Club near Dublin on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
It should have been several weeks ago but was one of the casualties of the volcanic ash fall-out from Iceland which wrecked flight schedules around the time the Scots were about the make the trip to Ireland.
Time marches on and not all the Scottish players selected originally are available to play this coming week. Scotland are the current holders of the trophy.
The team is:
Heather Anderson (Alyth).
Lorna Bennett (Ladybank).
Helen Faulds (Douglas Park).
Noreen Fenton (Dunbar).
Alex Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie).
Mary Smith (Tain)
Katheen Sutherland (Royal Montrose).
Pamela Williamson (Baberton), playing captain.

The Ireland team is:
Rhona Brennan (Bandon)
Pat Doran (Donabate)
Valerie Hassett (Ennis)
Marilyn Henderson (Castlerock)
Helen Jones (Stabane
Sheena McElroy (Grange)
Violet McBride (Belvoir Park)
Phil O'Gorman (Laytown and Bettystown)
