Note from the Editor:
We recently received an inquiry from a reader about this year's Highland Women's Open tournament at Pittlochry, asking if it had been played and, if so, who won? The tournament has been played. We missed it at the time but now, thanks to Cath Cant of the Pitlochry Golf Club, here is a resume of the event>

Ladies' Highland Open 2010
The top qualifier after two rounds of strok, with a total of 151, was Sal Shepherd from Craigmillar Park. In second place was Caroline Dunbar from Aberfeldy on 159 with Robina Gilbertson from Prestwick St Cuthbert on 160.
The silver section was won by Helen Telford from Pitlochry (in her 57th year as a member at Pitlochry) on 146. In second place was Catherine Simpson from Bridge of Allan on 150 (better second day) from Janette Kennedy from Pitlochry, also on 150.
The bronze qualifiers were led by Ann Garden from Pitlochry on 142 from Gillian Munro from Pitlochry on 149 and Brenda Kerr from Dunkeld & Birnam on 150.
The first round of match-play saw top qualifier Sal Shepherd take on the 16th qualifier, 15-year-old Erin Millar from Pitlochry. All square coming to the 18th, Erin was an inch from winning the match when her putt for a birdie 3 just stayed out. The match eventually ended on the 23rd hole with a win for Sal.
In the afternoon round, Sal beat Kathryn Green from Bridge of Allan 2 and 1. Caroline Dunbar beat seven times previous cup winner Fiona Farquharson from King James VI 4 and 3 in the morning round and then showed sparkling form to beat Pitlochry youngster, Laura Campbell, 5 and 3.
Robina Gilbertson beat Lotta Ekstrom from Sweden 5 and 4. Then, in the afternoon, she beat Pat Simpson from Lundin Ladies 3 and 2. Gillian Dowling from Inverness beat Helena Sterner from Sweden in the first round 3 and 2 and local favourite, Kathleen Duncan on the 18th in the second round.
In the semi-finals Sal Shepherd beat Gillian Dowling 2 and 1 and Robina Gilbertson beat another former winner, Caroline Dunbar, 3 and 2. In a scrappy final, Robina Gilbertson retained the trophy by beating Sal Shepherd 3 and 2.
In the Silver handicap match-play 16th qualifier Fiona Seaton from Pitlochry beat top qualifier Helen Telford 3 and 2 but Fiona lost in the afternoon to Marie Dahlstrom from Sweden, setting up a semi-final with Kay Knight from Pitlochry who had beaten Frances McFadzean from Craigmillar Park 5 and 3 in round one and Margaret Peattie from Bridge of Allan by one hole in Round 2.
Janette Kennedy from Pitlochry beat Janis Myles from Bridge of Allan in round 1 but lost to Margarte Macrae, also from Pitlochry 4 and 2 in round 2. Lande Pattinson from Pitlochry beat Pat Stables from Liberton 4 and 3 in the first round and Pam Turner from Canmore by 1 hole in round 2 setting up a semi-final line-up of three Pitlochry ladies and one Swede. Kay duly dispatched Marie by 2 and 1 in the first semi-final and Lande beat Margaret by 1 hole in the second.
In the all-Pitlochry final, Lande eventually prevailed by 1 hole.
In the final of the bronze handicap match-play, Ann Nicol, the No 5 qualifier from Australia,  beat Brenda Kerr from Dunkeld and Birnam 3 and 2..
