Julie Yang, Lynn Kenny qualify for Women's Open

Lynn Kenny was the only Scot to survive today’s Final Qualifying at Hillside Golf Club, Southport and claim a place in the starting field for the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale Golf Club, also in Lancashire.
But the Archerfield Links player from Dunblane, who had a two-over-par 74, had to come through a six-way play for the last three of the 17 places up for grabs.
Karen Margarethe Juul (Denmark), Sophie Giquel (France) and Lynn claimed the championship spots while the alternate (reserve) places went to: Australia's Rebecca Flood (1st), Spain's Mariana Macias (2nd), France's Barbara Genuini (3rd), and Sweden's Louise Stahle (4th) secured alternate spots.
Gullane assistant pro Heather MacRae just failed to get into the play-off. She bogeyed the last for a 75.
Curtis Cup Scot Sally Watson (Elie and Earlsferry) had an 80.
The leading qualifier was New Zealander Lynnette Brooky with a five-under 67 which was four ahead of the rest of the qualifiers.
Musseburgh-based South Korean-born Julie Yang, only 15 and playing out of King's Acre Golf Centre, near Edinburgh qualified with a par-matching 72.
