Scots girls lose 2-1 to Czech Republic in Denmark
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION
Teenage twins Leona and Lisa Maguire (Slieve Russell) led the way as Ireland defeated home nation Denmark 4-1 in the quarter finals of the 2010 European U18 Team Championships at Aalborg, Denmark today.
The Maguire twins dominated their foursomes match to win on fifteen and each then added a point in convincing style in the afternoon singles to complete another successful day for the Cavan twins. Stephanie Meadow and Laura McCarthy were unlucky to lose their foursomes match losing on the home green in the morning while Meadow was called in at all square in her afternoon singles when the result of the fixture was beyond doubt.
Ireland now face third qualifiers Spain in the semi final while top seeds France play Sweden in the other half. The final medal positions will be decided on Saturday.
