QUARTER-FINALS AT EYEMOUTH

The two North-east girls actuall live thousands of miles apart for most of the year. They will meet in the quarter-finals tomorrow morning.
Culter-based Rachael Polson, a member of Peterculter Golf Club, had good wins over Linsey Stevenson (Elie and Earlsferry) and Alison Goodwin (Glenbervie), conqueror earlier of No 5 seed Gillian Scanlan (Hamilton), to reach the last eight.
Next opponent for Rachel, 21st of the 32 qualifiers, is Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh who is a student at the IMG David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Gemma, who plays regularly on the US junior circuit, qualified for the match-play as No 4 seed and had two smooth wins today.

Kate was four up after 13 holes in her second round tie against Scotland girl cap Alyson McKechin (Elderslie). Alyson fought back to square the match but Kate regrouped to win at the 19th.
