Tara gets her hands on South region championship trophy - at last!

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Middlesex golfer Tara Watters made it fourth time lucky when she won the South region women’s championship at Bush Hill Park Golf Club in her home county.
Tara, who was runner-up in the last two English amateur championships and also in this event last year, claimed the title when she beat Surrey’s Julia Brook in the final.
Tara was two up with two to play but Julia took the match to the final hole when she birdied the 17th.
This week ,Tara is playing in the Grand Prix des Landes at Hossegor in south-west France, where she is representing England in the Nations Cup event, alongside Nikki Foster (Pleasington) and Lucy Williams (Mid-Herts).
The top qualifier for the match-play stages of the South region championship was Hampshire 15-year-old Georgina Mundy who scored three-under par 67 in the second round. She is a member of EWGA’s Select South West Squad.
The handicap prize was won by Kent’s Holly Standing, 14, who trains with EWGA’s Super Birdies South Squad at Burhill. She was playing off 12 handicap and scored net 69 in the morning followed by an afternoon round of level par 70, net 58. Not surprisingly, she was nine shots clear of the field.
