Top two seeds Watton and
Briggs KO'd in quarters
On a very windy morning at Eyemouth Golf Club, there were several hock results in the quarter-finals of the Scottish girls championship.
OUT went the No 1 seed Rachael Watton.
OUT went the No 2 seed Eilidh Briggs.
Rachael Watton, hot favourite to win the title after being the leading qualifier by 11 strokes for the match-play stages lost by 3 and 1 to fellow Lothians player Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe), pictured right.
It was Kate's second big scalp of the week. The No 25 qualifier beat another Scotland girl international Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) at the 19th in the second round.
Florida-based Gemma Dryburgh won the battle of North-east competitors to reach the semi-finals.
Aberdeen-born Gemma, a student at the IMG David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida, beat Peterculter's Rachel Polson by 4 and 2.
So it's Kate McIntosh v Gemma Dryburgh in the first of this afternoon's semi-finals.
The other semi-final features Lesley Atkins (Gullane) and Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw).
Lesley, the seventh best qualifier, scored an upset 5 and 3 win over the No 2 seed and Renfrewshire women's county champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm).
Gabrielle, the No 3 seed, beat Hannah McCook (Abernethy), the No 6 qualifier, by 3 and 2.
Hannah was runner-up to Julie Yang in the Paul Lawriie Scottish schoolgirls championship at Murrayshall last month and last week was beaten finalist in the North of Scotland women's championship at Forfar.
