Yorkshire'S one-point lead in North County Match Week

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Yorkshire take a one-point lead into tomorrow’s final day of North region County Match Week at Carlisle Golf Club.
The winner of the week will join five other teams at the national finals of the English Counties’ Championship at Kedleston Park, Derbyshire. The competition series is supported by Virgin Atlantic.
Yorkshire, who last won the national title in 2008, are hot favourites to go forward to this year’s County Finals. However, they can be caught by their final day opponents, Cheshire. And, mathematically speaking, defending champions Lancashire could pull off an overall win if the other results go their way.
In today’s matches Yorkshire beat Durham 5½-3½ and have four points from four matches. Lancashire beat Cumbria 8½-½ and have three points. Cheshire beat Northumberland 8-1 and also have three points.
This is the last of six County Match Weeks. Five have already been completed and the winners are: Dorset (South West region), Sussex (South), Lincolnshire (Midlands North), Northamptonshire (Midlands South) and Hertfordshire (East).
