ABOYNE TOP OF THE CLASS AT PAUL

LAWRIE SCHOOLS EVENT


Aboyne Academy, represented by Daniel Thompsett, Sam McNeill and Kimberley Beveridge, won the Paul Lawrie Foundation Schools Team Challenge's Scratch Trophy at Peterculter Golf Club today (Monday).
Daniel and Kimberley both returned 74s and Sam an 83, producing a total of 231 which gave them a eight-shot winning margin over runners-up Banff Academy (Lewis Mutch, Kerr Baptie and Luke Sutherland) with Peterhead Academy (Jamie Reid, Scott Philips and Scott Grand) third on 241.

Craig Lawrie (Robert Gordon's College), elder son of Paul Lawrie, had the lowest scratch score of 72 but there are no individual awards at the tournament which is in its eighth year.
Craig has cut his handicap from eight to four this year. Obviously a chip off the old block! Paul and Craig are pictured right (by Cal Carson Golf Agency).
Westhill Academy's Sam Thain, Mark Robinson and Lloyd Shand, won the Handicap Trophy with a net total of 220, three shots ahead of Meldrum Academy and five better than third-placed Harlaw Academy.
