Charley (14),Tara new caps in England team for Home
Internationals at Whitchurch (Cardiff) next month

Two new caps have been selected for England’s team for the ladies’ Home Internationals at Whitchurch (Cardiff) Golf Club from September 8-10.
They are 14-year-old Charley Hull from Woburn, who has won two top ladies’ scratch events this season, and Tara Watters of Middlesex, who has been runner-up in the last two English amateur championships. They join six experienced internationals.
The full team, captained by Chris Williamson (Hartlepool), is:

Charlotte Ellis (Minchinhampton)
Nikki Foster (Pleasington)

Tara Watters (Muswell Hill)
Hannah Barwood is a Curtis Cup player and the winner of the 2008 English championship. She was a semi-finalist in this year’s English championship and tied fourth in the English open strokeplay.
Hayley Davis won the English championship at her first attempt this year. She has just helped England to win the girls’ Home Internationals. Hayley is also a member of the Dorset team which has qualified for the national finals of the English counties’ championships.
Charlie Douglass won the 2009 English championship and was a reserve for the Curtis Cup team. She was sixth in the recent English strokeplay championship and has helped Hertfordshire to the finals of the English counties’ championship.
Charlotte Ellis won the 2006 English mid-amateur championship. She was a semi-finalist in this year’s English amateur championship and runner-up, for the second year in succession, in the English strokeplay championship.
Nikki Foster was runner-up in the Helen Holm Scottish strokeplay championship and forced a play-off in the Welsh strokeplay championship after carding a final round of five-under 69.
Charley Hull, a past English U13 champion, has won two top scratch events this year: The Leveret at Formby Ladies and the Hampshire Rose at North Hants. On both occasions she was five-under par. She was also third in the English women’s strokeplay championship and has helped Northamptonshire to the finals of the English counties’ championship.
Kelly Tidy is the 2010 winner of the ladies’ British amateur championship and qualified for the Ricoh Women’s British Open. She has been selected for the European Junior Ryder Cup team which will take on the USA youngsters at Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland, from September 27-28. It will be her third appearance in a junior European team.
Tara Watters has been runner-up in the past two English amateur championships and is the current South region women’s champion. Together with Nikki Foster and Lucy Williams (Mid-Herts) she won the Nations Cup for England at the Grand Prix des Landes at Hossegor in south-west France.
