England trio selected for World Amateur Team Championship

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Three internationals, Hannah Burke, Holly Clyburn and Kelly Tidy, will represent England in the women’s World Amateur Team Championship in Argentina from October 20-23.
The reserves are Hannah Barwood of Gloucestershire, and Hayley Davis of Dorset. The championship, for the Espirito Santo Trophy, will be played at Olivos and Buenos Aires golf clubs.
Hannah Burke, 22, of Mid-Herts, Hertfordshire, is the Irish open stroke-play champion and was England’s top player at the European ladies’ championship. This season she has also won the Astor Salver, helped Hertfordshire qualify for the finals of the English counties’ championship and reached final qualifying for the Ricoh women’s British Open. She has also scooped a host of honours on the US women’s college circuit during her four years as a student at Baylor University, Texas.
Holly Clyburn, 19, of Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, is a Curtis Cup player and was England’s joint top player in the recent British stroke-play championship. She played in this year’s US amateur championship and also took part in final qualifying for the Ricoh. She was the 2009 English girls’ champion, runner-up in this year’s U-21 event in the Faldo Series Asia grand final in China, and was the 2009 Faldo Series girls’ champion. She was runner-up in the Dixie Women’s Amateur in the US at the start of this year.
Kelly Tidy, 18, of Royal Birkdale, Lancashire, is the ladies’ British amateur champion and played in this season’s Ricoh women’s British Open on her home course. She has also twice been runner-up in the British girls’ championship. Kelly has been selected for the 2010 European Junior Ryder Cup team which plays the Americans at Gleneagles in September. This will be her third appearance in a junior European team, having previously played in both the junior Ryder and Solheim Cup matches.
Hannah Barwood, 20, of Knowle, Gloucestershire, is a Curtis Cup player and a past winner of the English championship. Hayley Davis, 17, of Ferndown, Dorset, is the current English champion and has just helped England win the girls’ Home Internationals.
