IRISH GIRLS' INTER-PROVINCIAL MATCHES
ROSCOMMON GOLF CLUB
18 - 19 AUGUST 2010
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION
Ulster will go in search of their sixth successive Girls' Inter-provincal title when the two-day championship tees-off on Wednesday at Roscommon Golf Club.
The Northern team once again looks the strongest of the four sides as they field the talents of three Irish Girls' Internationals Jessica Carty (Holywood), Laura Grant (Lisburn) and sister, Paula Grant (Lisburn), in addition to up and coming stars Hannah Henderson (Ballyclare) and Olivia Mehaffey (Royal Co. Down Ladies).
The Leinster side will be looking to current girls' internationals Anna Courtney (St. Anne's) and Amy Farrell (Moate), as well as former international Patrice Delaney of Birr, to inspire victory and recapture the title for the first time since 2003.
Connacht field an youthful but inexperienced team while Munster are well represented by Eaodin Cronin (Bantry Bay), Jean O'Driscoll (Muskerry), Chloe Ryan (Castletroy) and Sinead Sexton (Lahinch) .
The altered format for this year's event sees eight singles matches played in the round-robin series of matches, played over two days. A change to the selection criteria for this event now requires that each team must include a minimum of three players who are under the 15 years of age.
