MARSHALL AND RAWLINSON SHARE TOP SPOT
IN STRATHTYRUM TROPHY AT ST ANDREWS
Baberton’s Karen Marshall, three times a winner of the Strathtyrum Trophy women’s open tournament at St Andrews, is hot on the trail of a fourth victory in the popular holiday event.
Karen, non-playing captain of the Scotland girls team, could not keep up the cracking pace she set with a first-round 70 at the Eden Course, having to settle for a 77 over the tougher New Courseand an aggregate of 147.
But that was still good enough to share the top qualifying spot with Lancashire’s Nicola Rawlinson, a member at Royal Birkdale.
Nicola had scores of 73 and 74.
Karen has won the tournament in 1997, 2003 and 2006.
Former Angus county champion Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir) had the third best of total of 150, made up with a 72 and 78.
