Five from EWGA squad through to final two rounds

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Five members of the English Women’s Golf Association squad have made it through to the final 36 holes of the mixed North of England U16 championship at Pannal, Yorkshire.
They are Meghan MacLaren (Wellingborough), Amber Ratcliffe (Royal Cromer), Brogan Townend (Pleasington), Olivia Winning (Rotherham) and Shelby Smart (Knowle). The sixth member of the squad, Georgina Mundy (Dunwood Manor) missed the cut by just one shot.
We’ve got all to play for tomorrow,” said England national junior coach, Pat Smillie. “I was very pleased with the players today and very, very disappointed for Georgina Mundy, but this is a tough tournament.”

Amber Ratcliffe – who had six birdies in her round – and Olivia Winning led the way for the squad with rounds of 74, which was one shot below the CSS. Shelby Smart and Brogan Townend both shot 75, while Meghan MacLaren returned 78 and Georgina Mundy 82.

The leading girl in the championship is Spain’s Clara Baena followed by last year’s champion, Bronte Law (Bramhall). Other English girls who made the cut are Ellie Goodall (Selby), Lucy Evans (Wrekin), Abi Laker (Burford), Bethan Popel (Long Ashton), Kyra Horlock (Broadstone).
