Scot Kirsty Condon off to University of Radford, USA

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The Scottish Ladies Golfing Association might not be aware of the fact but Kirsty Condon, who is heading to America and the state of Virginia this week to enrol at the University of Radford, is a Scot.
Kirsty was born in Paisley and lived at Bishopton until she was four years of age. She has two of a handicap and is another product of the Graham Bradley Coaching School at Blankney, Linlcoln.
Appropriately enough, in view of Kirsty's birthplace, the University of Radford's golf teams are known as "The Highlanders."
She will team up there with Hannah Coles from Birmingham under the watchful eye of head golf coach Jeff Beeler. The Highlanders have a girls' squad of eight players for the new season and Kirsty is one of only two freshmen. Having a look at the the team's schedule for 2010-2011, she can look forward to visiting Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, Florida and Maryland as well as what will become her home state of Virginia.
Join a US college golf team and tour the country at no expense!
Kirsty's dad Ken says she has had a quiet year golfwise but she did win the Roses Spoon for a five-under-par round in April and also recorded her SIXTH hole in one.
Kirsty Condon will be Lincolnshire's fourth current student in the States, following in the footsteps of Jess Schiele (Redlands), Lizzi Over (Barry) and Gemma Hardie (Central Arkansas), which, for a county of the size of Lincolnshire, tells you how good the golf set-up is.
Another couple of new faces/names to look out for on the US college golf scene in 2010-2011 are Steph Peareth, (durham), who's gone to Pfeiffer University in North Carolina, and Kim Bradbury (Derbyshire), at Old Dominion University, also in Virginia.

+If you know of any British or Irish girls or boys who are joining US colleges for the first time, E-mail the information to Colin@scottishgolfview.com
