STRATHTYRUM TROPHY NO 4 FOR KAREN
MARSHALL WIN WIN OVER ANN RAMSAY

Baberton’s Karen Marshall chalked up a fourth Strathtyrum Trophy success today  when she won the popular St Andrews women’s open tournament with a 4 and 2 win over Ann Ramsey (Kirriemuir) in the final over the Eden Couorse.
Karen, the No 1 qualifier, had previously won the title in 1997, 2003 and 2006.
In the morning semi-finals she had a 5 and 4 win over Christine Appleby (Preston) while Ann Ramsay, a former Angus county champion and the No 3 seed, reached the final with a 3 and 2 win over the No 2 qualifier for the match-play, Nicola Rawlinson (Royal Birkdale).
There was nothing between Marshall and Ramsay on the outward half of the final.
All square at the turn, Karen then grabbed the upperhand to build up a winning four-hole lead.
The Strathtyrum Salver handicap competition was won by Catriona McWilliams from Corrstown, Ireland. Playing off 19 she won by 2 and 1 in the final over Esther Hutcheson, who plays off 18 at Burton-on-Trent.
McWilliams was one up on the outward half.
