Banchory's Chris Robb, a student at Chattanooga-Tennesee University and a winner on the US college circuit the last time he played, has been given a reminder of just how high the standard of play can be in some of the university tournaments in the States.
Robb, pictured right in team colours, had rounds of 71, 73 and 73 for a one-over-par total of 217 in the Mason Rudloph men's college championship over the Vanderbilt Legends Course, Franklin, Tennessee (par 71/7,000yd).
Yet that performance was not even good enough to get the former Scottish schoolboys champion into the top 30. He finished joint 34th with former English boy international Jack Hiluta (South Alabama). Hiluta had rounds of 73, 73 and 71.
To win some US college events, you have to shoot quite a few under par as the winner of this event did - Jack Belote (Memphis) who scored 66, 69 and 70 for eight-under-par 205 and won by one shot from Blaine Woodruff (South Carolina) (69-67-70).
Memphis (842) won the team title from South Carolina (844) with Mississippi (847) third. Chattanooga (858) were joint seventh and South Alabama (871) 12th of the 17 competing teams.
In the female version of the "Mason Rudolph," Curtis Cup Scot Sally Watson was the top scorer of the five Stanford University team players but she finished "only" joint 27th in a quality field of 93 players.
Sally scored 71, 74 and 71 for level par 216.
That was 11 shots behind the pair at the top of the final leaderboard, Germany's Pia Halbig (California-Berkeley) (68-67-70) and Michelle Shin (Wake Forest (65-70-71), both on 205. No word of a play-off. They don't always have one.
Curtis Cup reserve Stephanie Meadow from Northern Ireland but a resident of the United States during college terms for a few years now, tied for 46th place with scores of 76, 72 and 73 for 221. Stephanie a freshman student at the University of Alabama.
Louisiana State (843) won the team title by two shots from Purdue (845) with Southern California and UCLA tied for third place on 851. California-Berkeley were fifth on 856 with Alabama sixhon 859.
Sally Watson is suffering from a lack of support team-wise at Stanford University. With a total of 889 they finished 15th of 17.
Jessica Schiele (Redlands Community College) from Grimsby finished 17th of 48 in the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at Jimmie Austin Golf Club, Norman in the state of Oklahoma.
Jessica scored 79, 74 and 74 for 227 over a par-72 course of 6,327yd.
Royal Liverpool GC member Laura Jones (Oklahoma City) shared 38th place on 242 with scores of 76, 85 and 81.
Arkansas players were first and second, Emily Tubert (69-72-70) winning with 211, two ahead of team-mate Kelli Shaw (69-71-73).
Not surprisingly Arkansas (871) won the team title from Oklahoma (876). Redlands CC (837) finished seventh of eight and Oklahoma City (963) came last.
Kim Bradbury (Old Dominion University) finished joint 22nd in a field of 54 at the Sea Trail Women's Inter-collegiate toournament at Willard Byrd course, Sunset Beach in North Carolina.
Over a par-72, 5947yd course, Kim had rounds of 79, 78 and 77 for 234.
Team-mate Emma Gilmore from Ireland had scores of 88, 80 and 77 for 245 which earned her a share of 37th place behind the impressive winner by eight shots, Tara McFadden (Elon University) (73-69-73).
Elon (894) won the team event with ease from Jacksonville (911). Old Dominion (941) finished sixth of 10.
Welsh girl international Natasha Gobey from Tonypandy, a freshman student at Toledo University, finished joint 39th in a field of 63 players at the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West course, East Lansing, Michigan.
Natasha's first two rounds over a par-72, 6316yd course, were not too bad - 76 and 78 - but she "lost it" over a last-round 84 which pushed her down to a final total of 238. She will improve as she finds her feet on US courses.
Nicole Zhang (Notre Dame) was the individual winner here by nine shots with scores of 69, 67 and 71 for nine-under-par 207.
