LOUISE AND PAUL WIN SCOTTISH MIXED

FOURSOMES TITLE AT HAGGS CASTLE

It's all coming up roses for Dunfermline's Louise Kenney at the moment. Last week she was named in the Scotland trio to bid for the world women's amateur championship in Argentina and on Wednesday-Thursday-Friday helped Scotland to win the women's home internationals' title at Cardiff for the first time in 19 years.
Then, today, Pitreavie Golf Club member Louise and Paul Shields (Kirkhill), twice a beaten finalist in the Scottish boys' championship and winner of the North of Scotland open amateur stroke-play championship at Inverness last month, won the Scottish mixed foursomes championship at Haggs Castle.
On a wet course playing long, Louise and Paul had an excellent alternate-shot score of 71, two under the women's SS and one below the men's SS.
They won by two shots from Jennifer Mack (Haggs Castle) and son Gavin Mack (Prestwick) who had a better inward half than Karen and Stephen Marshall (Baberton) who also had a 73. The Marshalls won the mixed title when the tournament was last played in 2008.
The best net score was a 70 1/2 off 5 1/2 by Eve Carmichael and David Boyd (East Renfrewshire).
A total of 39 couples took part.
