Louise Kenney comes back from two down to retain Fife title
FROM CHRISTINE STEEDMAN
What a lovely day we had at Balbirnie, where we finally managed to complete the Fife Ladies County Championship.
In the morning semi-finals Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) beat Karin Sharp (Kirkcaldy) 3 and 2 and in the other game Elaine Moffat (St Regulus) ran out a 7 and 6 winner against an off-form Linda Dyball (Pitreavie).
The final started with Elaine taking an early lead at the first hole and with the next three being halved it wasn't until the fifth that Louise biried to get that match back to all square. A birdie at the seventh and a par at the eighth saw Elaine take two- hole lead, which Louise brought back to one with a par at the ninth.
Louise won the 10th with a par to get the match back to all square. A birdie at the par 5 12th saw Louise go one up and it stayed that way until the 17th. With Louise going into the water at the last it looked like we would all be heading up the 19th but Elaine agonisingly slid her putt a few feet past and couldn't make the return.
Louise holed out to halve the hole and become the Fife champion for the second year in a row.Pictures of the two finalists and the one of the right of the two Mums, Rhona Kenney and Ann Moffat (driving), by courtesy of Christine Steedman.
