SOPHIE PIPS KIMBERLEY FOR UBC TROPHY


Deeside's Sophie Alexander pipped Kimberley Beveridge of Aboyne for the UBC Trophy in the inter-district girls' stroke-play tournament at Kinloss Country Golf Club today.
Both players returned five-over-par 76s in windy conditions.
Sophie had the better inward half of 35 to 37 by Kimberley who won the Aberdeenshire girls championship the previous week.

Joint fourth in the scratch returns on the 82 mark were Claire Prouse (Hazlehead), Megan Clyne (Deeside) and Rachel Polson (Peterculter).
The best net score was a 68 off 23 of a handicap by Fiona Sutherland, like Sophie Alexander a Deeside Golf Club member.
Yet another Deeside junior, Vicki Powell was runner-up with a net 69 off 16.
Kirstie Brodie (Strathmore) was third with a 71 off 22.
In special additional prizes outwith the main list, Olivia Borwick (McDonald Ellon) won the O to 12 supplementary net score award with a 75 off 12, and Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) won the 13 and over handicap range with a net 78 off 20.
