Lizi Sweetnam third in Bison Fall Classic
Leighton Buzzard's Lizi Sweetnam, who has transferred frm Seminole State University to Arkansas Tech to complete her degree course since the 2009-2010 US college golf season,, finished third in a field of 51 players for the Bison Fall Classic at the weekend at The Course at River Oaks, Searcy in Arkansas.
Lizi had rounds of 78, three strokes off the pace, and 79, which included three birdie 2s at short holes, for a total of 157 - six shots behind the winner, Whitney Ohlhausen (Harding University) (75-76) who won by a shot from team-mate Soyun Kim (75-77).
Harding (620) won the team event ahead of Arkansas Tech (642), for whom Lizi was the leading scorer, and Arkansas-Fort Smith (655) in a field of eight teams.
Frazer Ogston 67th at Waterchase Invitational
Frazer Ogston from St Andrews, a sophomore (second year) student at Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth, finished joint 67th in a field of 100 for the Waterchase Invitational college tournament at Waterchase Golf Club, Arlington in Texas.
Frazer, pictured right, had scores of 77, 72 and 79 for a total of 228 over a longish course of 7,289yd with a par of 72.
Joint winners on seven-under-par 209 were Curtis Donahoe (North Texas) (69-67-73) and Derek Plucienski (Southern Mississippi) (68-65-76).
North Texas (844) won the team event from runners-up Southern Mississippi (865). Texas Wesleyan (880) came joint ninth in a field of 18 teams.Labels: US COLLEGES
