Abbey Gittings sixth of 103 in Waterlefe Invitational
Warwickshire/Tamworth golfer Abbey Gittings helped her Nova Southeastern University team to a second place position in a field of 19 teams at the USF Waterlefe Invitational at Bradenton, Florida.
The "Sharks" led the tournament for two rounds only to finish second, eight shots behind a strong Daytona State College squad which included Welsh girl international and freshman student, Kelly Miller (joint 27th with 76-81-75 for 232).
Three times Warwickshire ladies champion Abbey carded rounds of 75,76 and 71 over the par 72, 6000yd Waterleve Golf Club ciyrse,
Her total of 222 tied her for sixth place in a large field of 103 .
KATIE MUNDY FIFTH AT COLUMBIA, MISSOURI
Katie Mundy (Florida International) from Dunwood Manor finished fifth in a field of 84 players at the Johnie Imes Invitational over The club at Old Hawthorne course (par-72, 6204yd) at Columbia, Missouri.
Katie had rounds of 74, 71 and 69 for a total of 214, only two shots behind the joint winners, both from Oklahoma State University, Courtney McKim (73-68-71) and Victoria Park (72-75-65).
Nicola Race from Essex, a transfer student (from Redlands) at Missouri University, tied for 27th place on 227 with rounds of 76, 77 and 74.
Oklahoma State (863) won the team event ahead of Colorado and Oklahoma, both 878) and Florida Internationaol (885) in a field of 15 teams.
