Espirito Santo
United States lead, Scotland tied 33rd
Scotland, playing on the Olivos course near Buenos Aires, Argentina, are lying 15 shots adrift from the United States after the first round of the World Team Championship for the Espirito Santo trophy today. Louise Kenney was the best of the Scots with a 75. Her round included 3 birdies but a disastrous triple bogey 7 at the par 4 12th rather spoilt her score. Sally Watson was going great guns at the start with three birdies in the first half. Out in 36 she had too many bogeys on the way home and had to be content with a 76. Kelsey Macdonald, having a problem with biting insects, had a triple bogey at the par 4 3rd to be out in 41 but improved in a second half of 37.
The United States, represented by Cydney Clanton (68), Jessica Korda (68) and non-counting Danielle Kang (70) are on 136 and lead by four shots from the home team, Argentina and France.
Ireland are the best of the GB&I teams on 144. Leona Maguire and Danielle McVeigh both returned par 72s on the Buenos Aires course, with Leona's twin sister, Lisa, one shot further back on 73.
Amy Boulden from Wales returned a par 72, and along with the 77 from Tara Davies, this puts them tied for 24th place on 149. The third member of the Welsh team, Gemma Bradbury, had a 81.
England is tied with Scotland on 151. British Ladies Champion, Kelly Tidy from Royal Birkdale had a 75 and Hannah Burke had a 76. Holly Clyburn had a non-counting 77.
British Girls Champion Alexandra Bonetti (France) had the best score of the day, a 67, on the Olivos Course.
